Albuquerque Golf

The University of New Mexico offers some of the finest golfing in the Southwest. The Championship Golf Course, locally known as UNM South or “the Monster,” is a complete golf complex with an 18-hole course, 3-hole beginner course and a driving range. It has been ranked among the Top 25 public golf courses in the nation by Golf Digest magazine and has hosted several major tournaments, including PGA and LPGA qualifying events.

Designed by well-known architect Robert “Red” Lawrence, The Championship Course features rolling fairways and undulating greens that offer the player a unique golfing experience. You can expect the unexpected on this course dotted with traps, water hazards, elevated greens and tees, gullies and ridges. It is a meticulously maintained course that’s sure to challenge even the most experienced golfer. The course commands a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding Rio Grande Valley. It is a truly dramatic course, both aesthetically and in the way it plays. In addition to the Championship Golf Course, UNM offers an excellent nine-hole course, conveniently located on UNM’s North Campus.

Spectacular views of the Sandia Mountains make Santa Ana one of New Mexico's most dramatic golf settings. The course was the home of the New Mexico Open Championship and the 1999 Women's Amateur Public Links Championship. Following in the tradition of golf's first and finest links-style courses, Santa Ana is woven through the desert along the Rio Grande river. Native grasses, subtle mounding and eight crystal blue lakes will inspire, encourage and challenge you to play your best.

Santa Ana's designer, Ken Killian, was selected primarily because of his previous work with Tuckaway (PGA Tour Site) and Kemper Lakes (PGA Championship). Ken's directive was to design a links-style, friendly golf course that not only catered to the average golfer, but that could compete for a future USGA, LPGA, or even PGA tour event.

Borrowing its name from nearby Anasasi Pueblo indian ruins, the Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club, sitting at 6500 feet elevation on the eastern slope of the Sandia Mountains, promises to be a golf experience you won’t soon forget. Surrounded by the mountainous terrain and vegetation of the New Mexican high desert, the layout features island landing areas and greens separated by arroyos, native vegetation, and rock outcroppings. Each hole in the upscale course has five teeing areas allowing play from 5,700 to 7,600 yards, and most of the holes play downhill through ponderosa, pinon, and juniper.
